Check out what another Amesbury resident has to say about our dog training:

“Beau went into the training as a stubborn, shy, untrained puppy and by the time we had completed training he will sit, come, stay, place, go into his crate with a simple “crate” command, not jump on doors or bark when one of us goes in or outside, is perfect on walks (another magic trick), is working towards 100% recall, and is overall a much less anxious, shy, and stubborn dog. There is not enough space to list all his improvements!

In summary, Sarah has transformed Beau’s life as well as ours. We are now able to take Beau out to ice cream (inside and outside), breweries, outdoor dining, hiking, camping, and much more! The best part of this all is our trust and even stronger bond we now have between our “pack.”

We cannot recommend Dog Coach enough, and if you are feeling hesitant about training, we promise it will be worth it, not only for your dog but for you as well!” – Justin L.

Dog Training Tip for Amesbury: Leash Pulling

Leash pulling not only makes it unpleasant to walk your dog, but it also isn’t safe. While using a harness to walk your dog may seem like a good idea, a collar in addition to other tools is the safest and most effective way to communicate with your dog. Even before introducing a prong or remote collar with a trainer, you can get your dog to pull less with a simple flat collar.

Start by shortening your leash walks, and we mean very short: up and down your driveway, around your backyard, or up the street two houses. Short walks are a great training technique that allows you to focus on the details of a good walk and a great relationship with your dog.

Before you walk out the door, keep your dog calm while leashing up. As soon as your dog begins to pull, reverse your direction 180 degrees with a quick spin on your heel. Keep your leash short and your dog engaged.

Many clients have instant results within the first hour of training with us. All dogs we work with four months and older are fitted with a Herm Sprenger prong collar. We teach you the proper, humane, and safe techniques to get a great walk and to have your dog stop pulling. Here’s one of the many before and afters of a first training session:
