What a Rowley Client Says About Our Dog Training
“We began with the Foundation Class and recently just finished the Advance Remote Collar Class and all we can say is THANK YOU!!
Our 10-month-old Aussiedoodle Zoey has made a complete transformation and so have her owners!! Sarah is very patient and passionate about what she does. We started the classes as Zoey was unbearable to walk on a leash and simply wasn’t listening and our frustration was coming through and making things worse for both her owners and Zoey.
Sarah not only taught Zoey but she spent time listening to us and helping us become better dog owners. Zoey did wonderful in the Foundation class so we decided to move forward and do the Remote Collar Class and we couldn’t be HAPPIER. We have a dog who now can not only walk on a leash and listen but she has learned all the commands, including place and we can take walks with no leash on at all! It’s a MIRACLE!
We couldn’t be happier with our success and look forward to working more with Sarah in the future!!” – Dawn V.

Rowley Dog Training Tip: The Importance of Tone of Voice & Patience
It’s no secret that being a successful teacher or leader takes patience. It can be easy to forget that dogs look to us as their teacher and leader, requiring us to dig deep and be patient as they learn.
One of the ways we betray our lack of patience with our dogs is tone of voice. Moderate your tone of voice to deliver the most clear and direct command.
Some things to remember:
- Don’t start a training session when you’re tired, hungry, or distracted
- Remember to breathe: Sounds silly, but say the command once, then take a deep breath before proceeding. If your dog doesn’t listen the first time you say the command, use the leash to guide your dog to the position (this is where having the leash on inside comes into training)
- Keep your expectations reasonable: we often expect a lot of young puppies or expect our adult dogs will just ‘get it’ but keep your expectations age-appropriate. Mastering commands like Sit, Down, and Come are appropriate for most dogs after 16 weeks when they reach the first-grade level of capability.
