What Melrose Dog Owners Say About Dog Coach: Reviews of Our Training
Here’s what a Melrose resident has to say about our dog training:
“I cannot begin to describe what a rewarding experience training with Dog Coach was for our family. We have a 108 lb. “adolescent” Lab/Mastiff rescue who just became too hard for us to manage safely.
Sarah gave us the tools and coaching we needed so that we can now once again walk Finn in public, have people come to the door and enter our house without issues, and take Finn to the vet without problems. I can work remotely in peace!
I say “rewarding” because at our weekly training sessions, it was amazing to see what Finn could do once properly trained and more importantly, how much he wanted to succeed. Above and beyond, we enjoy being with Finn again and I think that he’s a happier pup as well.
I highly recommend Dog Coach for anyone who is struggling with issues with their pup. I only wish we had started training before it became a problem. Thanks, Sarah, for all your help! I know you are as proud of Finn as we are!” – Cathy K.

Dog Training Tip for Medford: Socialization
Dog socializing is sometimes thought of as the most important aspect of “having a good dog.” It’s a misnomer that a dog can be “socialized” just by being around other dogs and “letting dogs be dogs.” It would be great if it were that easy. But before you let your dog run off-leash with other dogs, work with your dog to build a strong relationship.
Things to keep in mind:
- Socialization is a human-canine exercise before it’s a canine-canine exercise.
- Exposing your dog to new things is important, but you need to have a solid relationship as a leader for your dog before that.
- If you’re set on your dog having a “playdate” choose a dog and a friend you know and trust to have one-on-one time at your house, in a controlled setting.
- Ensure your dog has rock-solid recall, often remote collar training can be the answer
- Skip the dog park: opt for a session with your dog, building your 1-on-1 relationship. Read more of our tips about having a well-socialized dog.
